Senior Brand Manager

Job Summary:

As part of the Agency Habitat team, our Senior Brand Managers are the link between our clients and the agency. You’ll be responsible for maintaining a tight relationship with specific accounts, identifying needs and selling agency services and talents to meet those needs. Of course, our art directors, copywriters and marketing folks will back you up with killer work. As a team, we pool our well-honed skills to craft dynamic campaigns that will impact our clients’ bottom line. Your job is to make sure projects stay on strategy, manage expectations and keep the communication flowing. And your ability to nurture and build relationships with current and potential clients is huge.

Key responsibilities:

Brand management and client account support:

  • Act as the brand account lead both internally and externally
    • Educate clients on agency philosophy and processes, and set the tone of the partnership
    • Conduct extensive research on the client’s business and competitors
    • Regularly communicate with clients to understand their long-term goals and make recommendations for/against certain strategies/tactics as appropriate
    • Help client define the role the agency can play in helping meet business objectives
    • Maintain agency/client relationship; arrange and chair meetings with clients via phone and in-person
  • Collaborate with media, creative and research staff to develop marketing strategies
  • Create and execute strategic plans, account planning and business processes for assigned accounts and submit to Director of Brand Management for approval:
    • Per brand
    • Quarterly
    • Annually
  • Develop proposals and present project plans/cost estimates, especially for larger initiatives/tactics, to clients for approval or modification
  • Assist with the development of creative briefs, project briefs and other foundational items
  • Negotiate with clients and agency staff regarding details of campaigns and projects
  • Secure all client approvals and maintain careful records
  • Review and approve all work before it moves into final production

Team leadership

  • Help communicate expectations of each role within team
  • Ensure proper agency processes are followed by team
  • Understand how/when to work with agency resource centers, external partners, etc.
  • Coach/assist team with internal and account troubleshooting
  • Promote continued learning and innovation
  • Maintain team morale through positive reinforcement

Team profitability oversight

  • Review/manage account retainers, scopes of work and project estimates
  • Report on client campaigns and project financial details
  • Monitor the effectiveness of campaigns/projects and work with appropriate team members to optimize accordingly
  • Review/manage financial reports including:
    • Quote vs. actuals
    • Quarterly projections

Business Development:

  • Help to secure new business, and constantly monitor existing accounts for growth opportunities
  • Contribute to onboarding new accounts

Perform other tasks as assigned

Relationships:

Reports to: Director of Brand Management or his/her designee

Supervises: Brand Managers, Associate Brand Managers

External relationships: Clients, Vendors, Contractors, Media

Qualifications:

Education: B.A. in Business, Management, Marketing, Advertising, Journalism, Public Relations or Liberal Arts

Work experience: 6+ years of relevant agency experience, including marketing or consulting, public relations, project management; knowledge of healthcare, pharmaceutical or medical device marketing highly preferred; management experience a plus

Work requirements: Occasional overtime and travel required. May work some odd hours.

  • Knowledge of sales activities, including lead generation, prospecting, qualifying, new business pitches, preparation of sales materials and communications, client interaction and entertaining, and other duties required to successfully manage and develop key accounts
  • Ability to identify key advertising opportunities and develop value propositions and sales strategies
  • Solid understanding of business terminology and contract negotiations
  • In-depth knowledge of traditional and digital media and their competitive landscape
  • Excellent organization skills, attention to detail and follow-through to resolve any outstanding issues
  • Excellent time-management skills, with the ability to meet strict deadlines and work under pressure
  • Great budgeting/estimating skills and ability to manage and communicate account budgets within the agency and with the client
  • Strong professional appearance and persona
  • Good presentation and analytic skills
  • Highly proficient in use of Microsoft Office products, social media platforms and internet browsers
