Social Media Art Director
The Role:
We’re hiring a Social Art Director to lead organic social for brands you’d stop scrolling for. The kind of brands you follow, save from, and send to your group chat.
At Habitat, organic social isn’t a line item. It’s the strategy. The old playbook — brand posts, brand waits, brand boosts — is done. We’re writing a new one, and our clients are growing fast because of it.
Here’s the thing: a lot of social managers are out there doing it all. Strategy. Shooting. Editing. Writing. Posting. Reporting. Alone. That’s not the job here. You own the social account, but you don’t carry it alone.
You’ll build alongside our influencer and partnerships team, our paid media team, our in-house production team, and our brand designers. You bring the POV. The collective brings it to life. The power of one. The expertise of many.
You’ll report to our VP of Brand.
Brands We Work With:
WHAT YOU’LL OWN
— The social strategy for each of your brands — what we say, how we say it, where we show up, and why it’s working (or how we fix it when it isn’t).
— The monthly content plan and shot list — you’re briefing the creative team, not waiting to be briefed.
— The creative direction of every post that goes out — you’re the taste layer between strategy and execution.
— UGC execution — some of it you’ll shoot and star in yourself, some of it you’ll hand off to creators or our production team. You’ll know which lever to pull when.
— The social POV in the client relationship — you partner with the Brand Manager on day-to-day client leadership, and you’re the subject matter expert the client turns to for anything social.
— Community and culture — you’re the voice in the comments, the DMs, and the trends channel. You catch what’s happening before it’s a trend piece.
— The performance story — monthly and quarterly reporting with real insight, not a screenshot of analytics.
WHAT YOUR WEEK ACTUALLY LOOKS LIKE
— Briefing photo and video shoots with our in-house production team
— Shooting and starring in UGC when that’s the right call, handing it off when it’s not
— Writing captions and post copy that pull their weight
— Scheduling content and keeping the calendar alive
— Reading comments, replying to DMs, flagging what the community is telling us
— Partnering with our paid social and media leads on boosting strategy and audience building
— Recommending creators and influencers for your brands and partnering with our in-house influencer and partnerships team to bring them to life
— Sitting in client meetings alongside the Brand Manager and leading the social conversation
— Keeping one eye on TikTok, Instagram, Pinterest, and whatever platform is about to matter
WHO YOU ARE
— You have 3–5 years in social — ideally at an agency, ideally on beauty, wellness, lifestyle, travel, or CPG brands. Strong in-house experience counts.
— You have a portfolio that shows real brand work, not just personal content.
— You can write a caption that sounds like a person, not a brand manager.
— You understand the difference between posting on social and building a brand on social.
— You’re comfortable in front of and behind the camera — UGC is part of the job, and you can execute it yourself when the moment calls for it or hand it off to the right creator when it doesn’t.
— You live and breathe organic social — TikTok, Instagram, Pinterest — and know what makes content actually work on each.
— You’re the person in the room who actually knows why a post worked, not just that it did.
— You’re a natural collaborator with clients — confident explaining your thinking, open to theirs, and focused on finding the best answer together.
— You keep it human. With clients. With teammates. With yourself.
— You’re based in Fort Worth or ready to be.
WHAT WE OFFER
— Competitive salary with performance-based bonus
— 401(k), full benefits, generous PTO, and a holiday schedule that respects your life
— A real career path — our Social Art Directors have grown into Associate Director and Creative Director roles
— Work alongside an in-house photo, video, design, influencer, and paid media team — all under one roof
— Clients you’ll be proud to put in your portfolio
— A Fort Worth office built for the way creatives actually work — an in-house prop library, a wardrobe vault, a studio at your fingertips, and three coffee makers (we take all three seriously)
OUR CULTURE
We don’t believe culture is ping-pong tables or free snacks (though we’re not mad about snacks). Culture is how we show up for each other, how we think about the work, and how we treat the brands that trust us with theirs.
Some days are heads-down and deadline-driven. Others are loud, collaborative, and full of ideas flying across the room. We make space for both. We celebrate wins. We support each other through the hard stuff. We laugh a lot. Sometimes at inappropriate times. It’s fine. We’re professionals who know every day is better working together.
READY?
Send us your portfolio, your resume, and a short note on a brand you think is doing social really well right now — and what you’d do differently if it were yours.
